Lecture 1: Packaging Design

In this exercise, we are tasked on designing a packaging for the favorite food of our partner. The design should include the elements that reflect the partner's personality, the likes and dislikes of the partner.

Initial conception:

My partner's favorite food is Mie Goreng Cabe Ijo, the best well known instant noodle in Indonesia. My packaging will include the drawing of a girl playing sports because my partners like all kinds of sports. My partner told me that sports relieve her from stress. For the background of the packaging I will make it black because she likes horror movie. Aside from that the background will also look like a night scenario where there is moon. The reason for this is because she likes to stay awake in the evening and late at night and sometimes in the middle of the night she tends to get hungry.

Design Process:

I decided that the materials that I will be using for my packaging design will be in a form of carton box/ cardboard. I chose cardboard because it is recycleable and the characteristic of cardboard is steady and strong just like my partner's personality. Inside the box I will layer it using a pvc sheet white paper so that the noodle will not be dirty and the oil or the sauce will not be absorb resulting the cardboard to be wet.

For the brand logo, I named it 'Lucky Mie!' because this instant noodle is like a savior to people if they got hungry in the middle of the night or lazy to go out to buy food. The Logo I made use a battery symbol because when you are hungry u will have low energy but once you eat noodle it will boost your energy.
